Hiya. I didn't understand the climax of the story. Like when Santiago reaches the Pyramids he's attacked and the leader of the attackers told him that he had a similar dream but he didn't pursue it. But Santiago , I reckon , goes to the place that the leader mentioned. But, I didn't get the connection?

The place the leader mentioned (the abandoned church) is the same place where Santiago used to spend the night when he was still wandering the land with his sheep. We see him spend the night there at the beginning of the story.

The irony is that Santiago had already slept right on top of the treasure back then, and had he only known, could have dug it up. But instead, he had to go on this very long and complicated journey to the pyramids to find out that the treasure was right where he started out.

This doesn't mean his journey was a waste, though . it changed him as a person, made him stronger, and he learned a lot of new things. So it all worked out the way it should have, because he followed his dream.

I am sorry but I think the author only turned lead into tin and sold it as gold.
