Is there a database (commercial or not), or know approach (tool etc.) available for me to get the city (Redmond), or metropolitan (Seattle), or region (e.g. Northwest) that is corresponding to a zipcode

Put the zip code into any search engine and it will tell you the city and state the zip code belongs to.

head to http://USPS.com, it does have a tool whereyou can search a city by zipcode or vice versa.
