Hi Brian,
There's no correlation between intelligence and emotion. Some highly emotional people are also highly intelligent. In fact, some of the greatest geniuses (men like Einstein and Newton) were emotional volcanoes.
You'll find every type in this world. Cheers, mate.

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real
sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that
feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence,
Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8). This
rational mind is also called the faculty of logic and
reason. However, logic has its own limitations:
In the 1930s, Austrian mathematician Godel proved a
theorem which became the "Godel theorem" in cognition
theory. It states that any formalized 'logical' system
in principle cannot be complete in itself. It means
that a statement can always be found that can be
neither disproved nor proved using the means of that
particular system. To discuss about such a statement,
one must go beyond that very logic system; otherwise
nothing but a vicious circle will result. Psychologist
say that any experience is contingent - it's opposite
is logically possible and hence should not be treated
as contradictory.
The Upanishads call the emotional component of mind as
Chitta and the rational component of mind as Manas.
These two components are opposite in nature. Some
modern psychologists have also observerd it, but they
are not sure about it:
"At the same time, reason sometimes clearly seems to
come into conflict with some desires (even while not
being in conflict with others) giving us the impression
that reason is separate from emotion".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason
The nature of Manas changes with each and every
perception and it's understanding. Manas represents the
intellignce of a person. In general, women excell in
Chitta and men excell in Manas. Men have the ability to
transcend the limitations of Manas and activate the
higher component of mind Buddhi (intellect or wisdom)
which deals with deliberation of the pros and cons
using discrimination after considering what is
emotional and what is rational. It overcomes the
limitations of logic and reasoning.

No not definitely. of course other than exceptions.
One can be intelligent and sensitive at the same time this is the exception to the rule. But it is highly unlikely because an intelligent person uses his rationality and his reasoning power to digest the gist of something that is absolute good which is the truth.
An emotional, sensitive person, most of the times, is not rational and intellectual, you just cited in your explanation that they use their emotions(heart) to satisfy their will, desires, and or appetites.
In some cases, an emotional person is prone to making wrong judgement as they may adhere to what their emotions dictate them. Fear, lack of sense of belongingness, homesickness or loneliness etc. These were the emotions I stood my ground with when I made the biggest mistake in my life.

Try this on for size: I studied philosophy for 3 1/2 years and now I'm about to finish a social work degree. I don't think it gets more logical and emotional than that.
I concur with another poster who mentioned Einstein.
Here's my equation:
(L x R) x (E x S) + Y = I
where L=logic, R=reflection, E=emotion, S=self-awareness, Y=reality, and I=insanity
Can you tell what I'm getting at?
Brilliant minds can also be sensitive minds. In fact, it is precisely in brilliance that a mind finds trouble. Brilliance is isolating. Sustained isolation is not healthy. As such, high intelligence and high sensitivity can easily lead to Crazytown.

Each is trying to run with a different leg shorter than the other. It's the old Mind/Body problem we try to resolve in a way we feel comfortable.

sure.emotions are a whole seperate program. although smart people I have known consider them a nuisance. Is that what you are getting at? Where do smart artists fit in? Did you mean equal left/right brain power? Like Leonardo?

Yes, i think so... one can be sensitive and intelligent at the same time... in depends on the person if he/she can take it.
being sensitive is just so easy. just be aware of your environment. you can achieve a high logic if you'll review your lessons well... what do you think?
