There is said to be poltergeist associated with the Black Mausoleum in Edinburgh's Greyfriars kirkyard. It is referred to as the "Mackenzie Poltergeist". I have been there and there is definitely a sinister atmosphere.

Typically, poltergeist activity is thought to centre around a person, usually a child or adolescent. However, poltergeist phenomena is also associated with haunted places. A famous example of this is Borley Rectory. Try looking for a directory of haunted houses.

Generally, though not exclusively, around troubled adolescent girls. I don't personally believe in mischievous spirits of dead people wandering around looking to get themselves an ASBO. More likely the rational answer is the true one. It is faked by attention seeking teenagers. However what we don't know about the mind could fill an ocean, so telekinesis is the most likely paranormal explanation, if the events are not being faked.

in an old hospital that i work at
It was in the sluice ( where the bed pan machine is)
it through objects out of the room at the walls, doors and ceiling
the room was away from the main ward the hospital was an old fever hospital and at the back of the ward was a small grave yard where patients who had died of very contagious diseases were buried
it was exercised by a local priest and the throwing stopped
