i seem to remember it either being Vauxhall or Peugeot and it was followed by the slogan 'the drive or your life'

any videos of old adverts would be cool too

Vauxhall used the riff from Layla at then end of their adverts in the late 80s.

"The Drive of your Life" is a much newer Peugeot slogan

Not 100% sure - might have been Ford - but also might have been Shell Petrol - the one with the White Porsche 944.

In Germany is was Opel (GM) so I believe that in Great Britian that would have been Vauxhall.
