You have not mentioned from which place you belong. If you can't afford legal assistance then you may contact the legal Aid office in your area. To know more about legal Aid you may visit this link ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_aid ).

You may also contact local law firms and lawyers. There are firms and lawyers who work for clients free-of-charge if they think the client is really in need of legal assistance and he can't afford the legal expenses. There are firms which work on "contingency fees" which means if you win you have to pay the fees otherwise no fees will be charged.

Go and see the Citizens Advice Bureau. They give free impartial advice on such matters and may be able to help you secure a solicitor or lawyer for a low fee. If you are being taken to court by the Crown Prosecution Service then they should appoint a lawyer on your behalf if you cannot afford one. For civil actions Legal Aid may be available but it is very limited. Check out the Legal Services Commission website for more details:

If you want to make a claim then there are lots of the so called "ambulance chaser" companies that exist now. These "no-win-no-fee" services sound great but many people have a VERY poor experience with them. Many of the companies are just fronts for one big company and they go for the big claims where they can get the best fee. A friend of mine has been waiting over a year for the solicitor to get off her **** and deal with his claim. The problem is, once you sign to them, you are stuck. Be very careful if you take this route.

Hope that helps in some way.
