I have been dreaming about someone I went to school with who passed away almost 3 years ago for 3 years now. I feel like I cant stop thinking about her and dreaming about her. I was wondering if this means anything. I cant keep thinking about her I dont belive it is normal. I just feel extreme sadness when I think about her.

The reason you are dreaming about her could be for any number of reasons:

1) Her death could have presented you with a philosophical dilemna that your mind cannot reconcile. Since you can't get over her death, your mind keeps 'bringing' her back as a way of keeping her around until you can find some understanding.

2) If you were very close, and you are afraid or anxious that you will never have another friend like her, it could be you keep dreaming of her because she is all you 'have'. When we are anxious about something, our mind can create an imaginary 'security blanket', via our dreams, to get us through whatever emotion we are dealing with.

3) It could be that you are very sensitive, and this act created a disturbance (or became a focal point of all the disturbances) in your life that, like any trauma our emotional minds can overcome, simply replays itself. Our minds are very emotionally engaged to us, which means that dominant emotions are the ones most likely to be represented in our dreams at night. Since we deal with so many emotions throughout our daily lives, it is easier for the mind to pick the one that is being the most obvious to build a dream around.

4) Because the issue between you and your friend is unresolved, the more you try to 'get past' the issue, the more your mind is trying to convince you that it isn't resolved. Imagine trying to 'walk' on a leg, without a cast, that you broke only 2 weeks ago. Although you want to get the 'healing' over with so you can get back to normal, the more you interfere (or the more other people or events interfere) with the healing process, the longer it takes for your 'leg' to be normal. In other words, the more you worry about the dreams, and the more you try to make them go away, the more the dreams are going to come.

Something about your friend dying is obviously not resolved within you. When you find out what that 'thing' is, the sooner you will be able to move on.

At times we dream about deceased relatives or friends simply because we miss them. These dreams may be disturbing but most likely are a form of wish-fulfillment or are based on memory through which we relive old experiences. Some people believe that in dreams they meet up with the deceased on the inner planes and engage in "real" interactions with them. It is normal to miss and long for the people that we loved and that have left the physical body. Therefore, it is not surprising that they will pop up in our dreams from time to time.

Everyone is dreaming about death, anyways, when we dream about someone who has died, it is a good thing ebcause in our dreams they are alive and we can spend time with them, especially if you have dreams were the person says they are happy or don't worry about them, this is a farewell dream, so you won't worry about them anymore, because they want you to go on with your life. repentace, loss, sorrow, seperation, failure, the end of a relationship.
