I have installed a new dvd re writer into my pc,it installed without anY problem but now there is power gong into the unit but it wont play cds or dvd or dvd roms etc, on checking the hardware in the device manager there sems to be a problem with either windows or the drivers for the dvd re writer, i get the following on screen message" windows cannot initiate the drivers" and the error code is 27, i have tried to unistall the hardware and re install it, windows detects the hardware ok but i tells me there is a problem and that my hardware might not work properly, as the problem i am having is on my dvd re writer i cant run any other cd or not even the windows xp disc or any cd containing drivers etc, i get no beeps or error messages when i start up my pc so i know the problem must be with drivers for the dvd re writer and not any other component within the pc.My current drivers are up to date and i have done all the relevant troubleshooting but still get nowhere.

try checking the settings of your dvd-rw. also check the belt. then try re-installing it again and updating your driver.

Go to driverguide and do a search for your drive. Download the driver and go to device manager and right click the problem device. Select do not search you will select the driver, and select the driver you downloaded. If windows is detecting it, and it still will not work, then you do not have the correct driver, or there is a conflict. Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, system information. Here look under conflicts to see if there is a conflicting device.

if you also have another cd rom in your pc, there is a small chip that plugs in to mother board. remove that plug and place your dvd's small tiny plug into that place then try again.
