Sycophants can swoon about like they do with rich people because they're only hoping for some reflected glory, by association.
It's difficult to get male friends because everyone automatically thinks your in a relationship, if you do get in one they're always too possesive and jealous because your continually pestered by other guys, or you get pissed off because they're always showing you off to their mates like a trophy.
Can it be a bit of a curse in some ways, especially if your not famous?

I'm not stuck up, by any means. But others have said that I am very attractive and I kind of think so. I've found that women have become friends with me just so they can hang out because they knew a lot of guys would gravitate. Not arrogant, but it's just the truth. I've always been sort of the life of the party, in a way, which is strange because I consider myself to be quite shy. But whenever I go somewhere, it seems as if nearly everyone there has to say something or acknowledge me in some way.
I've found that nearly all of the women who I thought was my friends turned out to secretly hate me and spread rumors behind my back and other things like that.
The few men who pretended to just want to be friends ended up hating me when it was clear I wasn't interested. I even had a man write me a 4 page "You suck" letter which was strange considering he always came off as this gay friend. Turns out he secretly wanted a relationship.
So, yes. I agree with what you're saying. I've found that the people who i've been able to make friends with and didn't have to worry about them spreading stupid rumors were other attractive, confident people.

Oh yeah, it's like SO difficult. I am having to bat the men off me day by day. they all SAY they like me for my brain, but in reality it is my gorgeous face and stunning body they are after. *sigh* Why oh why am I cursed with beauty like this... Let's go for a tossed salad without dressing and be friends.
