I think one point is that treasure can be found where you least expect it. & that you need to have experiences and challenges to learn who you are and what you want and how to get where you want to be. Also that there is a rhyme and reason to life, and that things happen for a reason... And to appreciate the signs and wonders of the natural world and not to take it for granted. I don't think there is just one main point except maybe that if you always keep your eyes and heart open then you will find happiness. Great book isn't it?

The main point of the story is that you have to follow your heart and trust in yourself to fulfill your own personal destiny. You shouldn't be distracted by what others want/think. But there also aren't any truly "wrong steps" - every experience brings you closer to your goal of realizing yourself.
