Yes, it is a quality that we all should strive for. No matter what your opinion could be with regards to telling white lies or half truths, it is still imperative that you train yourself to be truthful. But if you can't speak the truth, then just be silent. Best of all, don't do anything that will make it difficult for you to tell the truth later.

I always think honesty is the best policy. Even when it is tough. But there is also a difference between honesty and Brutal honesty. If you want to be honest you can do it in a way that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. Say a friend does ask you if you like their new sweater and you don't. Instead of lying about it or saying how much you hate it, perhaps you could find something nice (and honest) to say about it. Maybe you like the color, or maybe the cut of it. If there really isn't anything nice you can say about it, you can always ask them where they got it or how much they paid for it. If the friend pushes, then say it's not really your style, but you are glad they like it. There are so many times in life that people lie when they really don't have to. And teaching our kids that little white lies are okay only sets them up for more lying in the future. I always say stick to the truth, that way you don't get tangled up in lies. Just my thoughts on it.

Depends on the situations and if it is factual or opinion oriented .... if the honesty pertains to an opinion than no..you don't necessarily have to be honest....example: a woman buy the ugliest blouse you have ever seen...and it looks terrible on her..but she really likes it and thinks she looks great in it...than what would be the point in telling her it looks terrible and you don't like how it looks on her....what purpose would this serve?.....It is just an opinion...
but if it pertains to facts...and these facts could alter a person life in one way or the other..than yes, you need to always be honest........example: If you tell your child that their father is dead..that is why he is not around..than he shows up on the door step one day...this will create a huge horrible mess that could have been avoided by telling the truth from the start......

Yes, it would be nice to do so.
Not even one of us will be totaly truthful all the time.
Actually most are deliberately untruthful most of the time.
I am talking aobut around the globe, some nations do better than others. Some peoples are absolutely not to be trusted.

No,
I beleive there are circumstances where the truth is best kept to yourself.
E.g A bad outfit. Where all it does is hurt the person.

No - for instance - do you think I am ugly?
Does my bum look to big in this?
Did you enjoy that meal I spent 5 hours slaving over a hot stove for?
Those little white lies are very essential
