I am a brand new rat Mom/owner. I brought my first rat, Daisy home a couple of days ago. She has a sister. My hubby mistakenly thought rats were better off by themselves. Now I read that is simply false. Would it be too late to get another rat, now? Also.. other rat owner friends would be nice.

I think a female strange rat would not be welcomed with open paws. this is a random thought but if you could breed her with somebody's cute male rat, you could keep a female baby with her as her companion. That would be such a good solution IF you can find a cage that is baby rat proof. :)

Hi. Any kind of rodent can be dusted with baby powder before entering their new home, especially if already occupied. This "diminishes" their scent. You can also "dust" the current occupants.
