Unless is a medical condition, the blame can only rest at the door of the parents. they are the ones responsible for the well being of their child, and to feed and feed a child until they reach such a size is a form of child abuse. What I don't understand about cases like this, and antoher recent one where an 8 year old was four times the average weight for his age, is why does it take so long for the authorities to step in? Why do they not stop when the child is maybe two or three stones heaveier than they should be, or even before that? Why do they have to wait until it gets to such an extreme?
Like I said, I blame the parents entirely. They are constantly stuffing their kids with crap food and snacks, and giving in to nagging at the sweet counter rather than controlling the intake of food. I know that kids like chips, chocolate and burgers - I have two of my own- but I also know that saying no and putting up with the complaining is way better in the long run than giving in and having two kids who are overweight to the point of obesity. Once in a while as a treat is fine, but every day whenever it's demanded is wrong, it shows no discipline and is just plain lazy. What the parents of these children are doing is child abuse. Plain and simple.

Are you talking about the boy who weighs 218lbs? I'm repulsed by the idea that ANY parent could just sit around and not do something sooner. It's pathetic and it's disgusting

I don't know how England's health care system is but it can't possibly be worse than ours in America! I don't care if they lack health insurance or not, a child of that weight would not have been turned away by any respectable doctor that I can think of!

Not only has his mother screwed him out of his childhood but also his future life as an adult.

*** Ok now that I've been updated on the fact that we're talking about the girl and not the boy... my feelings mentioned above apply to this girl just the same. I clicked the news link that the gentlemen below provided. What an atrocity it is!

Sadly, I still see faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more fat teens in America. My country has turned into nothing more than a juvenile fat farm. I can't begin to express how disgusted and angered I am at what parents have allowed their childrens to become. Parents don't take their roles responsibly anymore, it's just incredibly, incredibly sad.

As a parent, if I ever saw my 4 year old daughter going down that page, regardless of her age, come hell or high water I'd be doing everything under the sun to get her life under control. No child should EVER be like that... EVER!

Of course it goes without saying that unless there is a major medical problem (ie. paralysis) then there just isn't any excuse worth trying to use to cover up the negligence of parents.

Mine does that on occasion. what's relatively stressful is when I genuinely have cleared the jam and the gadget does not renowned that that is been cleared and nevertheless refuses to artwork. Then I genuinely have genuine turn it off and on occasion even unplug and replug it in to get it working back. I genuinely have even had to do a equipment fix with the pc if I the place printing something from the cyber web or from my pc records.

I doubt he is truely proud to be fat. I think it is more he is getting reconision, if he was a normal kid walking down the street would you even notice him, realise he is alive?

I think it is wrong for him to get so much publicity, because what it is saying to a 18 stone kid is, hey there are people out there that are fatter than you!

I think it is tantamount to child abuse. Parents are responsible for the health and welfare of their children and this woman is killing her child. It shows how acceptable it is to be obese in todays society. It's just wrong on so many levels.

Not the boy. This is the one: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=440298&in_page_id=1770

It is shocking. How can people have so little concern for the welfare of their kids?
