Untill now, which tragedy in The Harry Potter series did you find the saddest?

I think it was like other people said, Sirius's "death". Cause Sirius was the only person, outside of school or the Weasley family, that actually cared about Harry. I like when it said "The laughter had not quite died from his face..." Cause if you're gonna kill Sirius he's gotta die in battle, and laughing! I dont actually think Sirius is dead though, there was something wierd about that curtain. But anyway, yes I cried during that part.....I have to admit, I never expected to cry during a HP book!

Another tragedy is when he had to break up with Ginny. Harry thinks she'll be safer if they're not going out, but I actually dont think it'll make much of a difference cause Voldie already knows he's close to the Weasley family, will it really make a difference? If Ginny dies in the next book it will be really sad, cause Harry's trying to protect her cause he loves her so much, and he can't loose her too.

I personally find the death of Sirius to be was most tragic because Harry's only surviving wizard relative, the only one who could finally give Harry the family he longed for, is gone. I remember a tear when I read that for the first time.

A close second, is the death of Dumbledore, and it looks like I'm going to make it even more sad. It seems that some still think that Dumbledore might still be alive. To quote Ms. Rowling herself:

"But I see that I need to be a little more explicit and say that Dumbledore is definitely dead. And I do know - I do know that there is an entire website out there that says - that's name is DumbledoreIsNotDead.com so umm, I'd imagine they're not pretty happy right now. But I think I need - you need - all of you need to move through the five stages of grief and I'm just helping you get past denial."

Sorry..

I thought what happened to Sirius Black sucked. I mean, here we have Harry just getting close to a new parental figure, and just like that, gone. For a long time, I held out hope that Sirius didn't actually die when he fell into whatever it was at the Ministry of Magic. His "death" was really a disappointment for me.

Sorry, the details are a little fuzzy. It's been a couple of years since I read Order of the Phoenix, and I've read thousands of pages since then. I'm looking forward to the last literary installment and the next film, though.

The other thing I found profoundly disheartening was Snape turning his wand on Dumbledore. Unbreakable vows or not, thanks in part to the way Alan Rickman plays Snape, I have come to feel such empathy for that character. I want so badly for him to be a good guy, and I still think he is.

We shall see...

The part at the end of Order of the Phoenix where Sirius dies...Harry just can't believe what was happening...that was the worst part of the series for me..I cried
Next was Dumbledore's death, Fawkes' lament, and the way Hagrid is lost without Dumbledore

Sirius dying is the most tragic.

Dumbledore dying is sad, but it seems he died for a purpose which we will understand why in book 7.
Sirius died because he wanted to save Harry, when Harry was needlessly trying to save Sirius. That makes it tragic!

Dumbledore would be the most missed, but the next book will still have a lot about him.

I found both Sirius and Dumbledore's deaths very sad, but I think the one moment that truly made me sad was the part when Sirius gave Harry the idea that when his name gets cleared up, then he can take care of him, away from the Dursleys. He was all looking for it, but then Pettigrew escaped. To think he was this close of getting away from a miserable life at the Dursleys.

Of course, after learning some new info, I don't think Dumbledore would have allowed that since he needs to be at the Dursleys. But still.

Not what you call a death, but still a sad happening...

How Snape betrayed Dumbledore and killed him. It's sad how Harry tried to warn Dumbledore that Snape was a traitor, but Dumbledore trusted him anyways.

Sirius dieing was also pretty sad, but I think he's still alive.

that book 7 is going to be the last, and we still don't know whether harry will live or not.

Other than that, i cried when dumbledore died. I was gobsmacked that she could do that. Also when sirius and Cedric died.
