Well, I would much prefer if they make an actual sequel of it.
The current ones are more in the line of the Kingdom Hearts series, using existing characters to put in a new stories.
I thought that the story of the originial game ended 500 years into the future, why not start from there?
But if they remake it, here are some fantasies:
- same story, no changes
- a more harmonize character design, like Final Fantasy VIII or IX, since Final Fantasy VII used the Japanese RPG traditional 'Super Deformed gameplay with normal cutscenes'.
- Costa del Sol, Xtreme Beach version. I'm very disappointed of the lack of gravure swimsuit scenes in the originial game.
- a way to recoup the investment on Aerith's weapons, armors, experience points and so on. A materia that enable to use her battle statistics (either as a doppelganger or a way for a character to execute her moves) is the easiest, a harder way (it would change the story) would be putting back into the game the revive Aerith quest.
I would like to add more like multiple outfits (like Sims), Final Fantasy X-2's battle dress transformation, and so on, but it would be better to make a totally new game.

It would be nice. but I think if a company other than square/enix did it it would be better.
Square tends to ignore important things like story and gameplay for graphics.
If square does a remake you will likely get the same game just repackaged with better graphics.
FF7 was a decent rpg, but there are a long list of far better ones.
Xenogears needs a remake, chrono trigger too. they were far far better.
So was suikoden 1 but it was too short. suikoden 2 is better now than any ff7 remake could ever be- if anything it should get a remake.
phantasy star 4 was much better and so were the lunar games.
ff7 was an enjoyable and decent rpg but I think a remake will just be "old hat". if they revamped it to turn it into an action based rpg like x-men legends and marvel ultimate alliance I think it would be a huge improvement.

Yeah, of course. The original is absolutely brilliant. I know some people claim that it would ruin some of the charm or whatever of the game, but I don't think so.
The story line was brilliant, better than almost all other games out, it's characters are memorable, great musical accompaniment, and imagine playing it with today's graphics, on something like the PS3! That would be great, near FF7 film quality.

OMG I would love nothing more!!I would look great and I think they should make Vincent a MAIN and not Hidden, I was so sad at the end when it went to the cut scene and Vincent was not on the ship. Plus it would look just beautiful when Sephiroth kills Aerith, the BEST cut scene EVER. I will always hope they do re make it. I have heard that one day it might happen, they did remake the intro for the PS3 and showed it and what it would look like if they did do it, but thats about it so far.
