The 1st time I heard of it was in the Exorcism of Emily Rose. What is it's origin?

12 am is typically considered to be the "witching" hour due to the veils being the thinnest at that time in a 24 hour period. Midnite is also a doorway between time. It is neither today or tomorrow. Doorways are considered to be places of magic. Standing in a doorway, you are neither in nor are you out...you are between.
The number 3 is a holy number because 3 represents the triple aspect of the Divine. Maiden, Mother, Crone in the Pagan religion and Father, Son and Holy Ghost in the Christian religion. It is widely accepted that Christ died on the cross at 3 pm and is the holy hour. Therefore, 3 am would be its opposite and would be considered the demonic hour. A kind of mockery of Christ's crucifixion according to Satanic thoughts.

There are different beliefs of witching hour, some say 2 am, some say 1 am, some say 12 midnight, some say that its from 12 midnight to 3 am, but it is said that, that the belief of witching hour at three am was a bit of a mockery to Christ's crucifixion which was held at 3 pm sunday hence the time and the opposite ante meridiem or am which makes it 3:00 am

it is in the movie the exorcism of emily rose. the story behind 3 am is that it is the hour in which the devil mocks Jesus. the reason 3 am was chosen is because Jesus is believed to die at the holy hour of 3PM on Good Friday.
therefore, 3pm is the holiest hour, while it's opposite 3am is the most evil hour

The witching hour be known as 3am among pagans since that hour be known as "the souls midnight" when the dead are most active, they are at 3 am. Active for summoning and asking to watch over or gain knowledge when a seer asks of these departed souls. Has an ancient origin by all cultures be they pagan especially. Suppose this be going out of style fast among people who were born past the 1990's ...sheesh.

I heard that the witching hour is the hour that Christ died and all the spirits and witches are supposed to be very active. Also the saying "Call on to me 333" in the bible is a meaning of Christ and a heavenly number so all of the demons and spirits are let out at that hour.

I think it's actually supposed to be midnight. But time zones throw it off. You know, when it's midnight in LA it's 3am in New York.

It is in reference to the Crucifixion. crucified at noon and died at three. Therefore everything is 12 hours apart.

in emily rose they mean the demon hour. midnight is the witching hour... what ever hour we choose is good though, i like 9 a lot :)
