Read the book and take notes of the important parts. Then go through the notes again and condense them. And also do pratical examples (i.e. past exam papers, or exercises in the book) to make sure you understand how it works.

The best way of reading economics is to understand the graphs first and then read the descriptions. Don't focus much on different theories. Try to co-relate different aspects of economics together and find out the loop wholes of different theories in economics.

Remember one thing; economics is not a science like physics or mathematics where almost everything is constant. Economics is social science that deals with almost everything of life and nature in terms of economical values.
