The chances of a war with the western powers (one or all) is extremely small. For all of their sword rattling, Iran has proven to be a responsible country that knows its limits. They are hard bargainers for sure, but responsible. More likely will be a regional revolutionary war between the mostly Sunni governments and their varied peoples. Iran will of course be trying to increase their regional power by backing factions that they can control and that could involve a regional war and UN actions to preserve the world order but it will unlikely be versus a particular country. Ultimately, this is like a viral infection. It can only be fought by prevention. Once the infection starts, one can only support life functions and let it run its course. Not the best forecast for the world's future - hopefully a new dark age can be avoided.

I think Bush is as usual and being a morron. Iran isn't going to stop their program just to have conversations. They want talks with us. They don't want to have us tell them what to do. They may not be a huge threat to us but they will be to the middle east and europe.
