As seen on TV today, the girl who claimed to be having an epileptic fit who was punched 5 times by the south yorkshire police officer, she claimed to not remember anything about the incident but she pled guilty to damaging the car and attempting to flee from police?? Sounds well dodgy to me, you can only see 1 angle in the cctv footage and the girl has no facial injuries, or other bruises for that matter.. (I HOPE THE POLICE BACK THIS OFFICER ALL THE WAY!!)

Sorry pal but as far as i can remember, if she makes a claim, the money comes out of your council tax... Who says crime doesn't pay!

Marcus,
CCTV can be very misleading as you would know for a fact if you were a cop, you should also know that CCTV on its own cannot be taken as proof of guilt as its VERY open to abuse, havent you ever been to the cinema, or do you really think spock is still boldly going... think about it pal!!!

I'm with you on this. It's hard to feel sympathy for someone who, if they hadn't been vandalising a car, would not have ended up in this situation. Put it this way, if it had been MY car, I would have applauded anyone giving her a punch.

I'm not sure what really happened, I briefly heard it on the news this morning but I would like to use the wait and see approach and then give my views on it. lets wait for the report. Getting all the facts is very important.
I've been saying for quite sometime now that seeing is not always believing, meaning that what you might have seen may not have been what is really going on, for example you might see someone running away from the vicinity of a crime but that does not mean that that person is the one who started it or even a part of it.
But I can't understand why one should be unlawful and then be compensated because maybe too much force was being used to apprehend that person whereby it was not deleterious. I think most of these claims shouldn't have even been considered. What I have noticed a lot of people been using the system to their advantage trying to get every penny that they can and to me this is not right. They tend to dwell on the laws too much all because of money not justice, MONEY. I love money but I prefer to work for it.

she is certainly kicking and struggling throughout - even before the officer pins her
Complainers should consider this - supressing a prisoner should not be a fair fight. Police want to come to work, & go home uninjured. If theres a struggle, as much force as neccessary should be used to ensure they remain uninjured. They didnt ask to attend and suffer physical abuse.... it always bemuses me when a drunk says, "does it take two of you, you *****?", like its their right to have a professional boxing match. If they kick off, they should go down as quickly as possible - it saves Police injury, & more often than not, the prisoner as well. This woman could have been gassed, or struck with a baton. All she got were some punches on the arm to get her to let go.... exactly what the officer would have been taught in his safety training, which is why his force are supporting him

No I completely agree with you, she is the lucky one she has CCTV showing and even though it exonerates the Policeman as you can see by some of the peoples answers on here media makes the rules and as it has come out before going to court the jury will already have the opinions of the media in their heads!!
She is yet another drain on our resources and will more than likely win taking hundreds of thousands out of our coffers and then the poor policemen will lose their jobs
She should be looked up and made an example of, no tolerance to crying wolf little idiots who try to fleece the system dry!

You're not the only one. Since she didn't remember it and doesn't have any visible marks how can she possibly claim compensation? For what?
The video doesn't actually show contact being made. The officer claims she was trying to grab his genitals; how convenient that she doesn't remember.
It would save a lot of money if petty crime was dealt with in this way. As for the race aspect: she hardly looks coloured, could just be suntanned. Why can't race relations actually concentrate on crime committed by blacks rather than sympathising with the criminal. I'm sure in Africa criminals would be treated in much the same way as this girl alleges.

You're very probably correct in what you say, and it seems that all the "professional police haters" and sillier political correct politicians are now also jumping on their bandwaggon too with crocodile tears of "more racialism" and "outrage against Muslims". But nobody actually knows the true facts yet. W should all hold back from making any assumptions or pre-conceived judgements, which may or may not be bigoted, until a proper enquiry establishes the truth.

What got me fuming is the guy who came on and said this was "Definitely a race motivated attack" . What a load of rubbish!! If the girl had been white then the police would have acted exactly the same in that situation ... Another example of this country going to the dogs.
I've heard a whisper that the dogs don't want it and they're trying to give it back!!

We were taught during training that if someone is fighting or resisting arrest you use reasonable force to subdue that offender. Hitting someone 5 times on the arm to make them let go of you is perfectly reasonable, and for those people who think he was punching her head watch the video again and actually listen to her saying on tv that he hit her arm. Pulling your baton out and smacking them in the face is excessive. There are too many criminals out there who think they should be able to milk the system, and too many good police officers are frightened to use their powers for fear of a complaint. Lucky this isn't America or the daft bint would be in hospital right now.
We should stop taking c**p from the idiot in society and give them the justice they truly deserve, because at the minute the justice system favours the crooks and villains. Good luck to the PC in Sheffield, knowing today's system he'll need it.

It appears the police are for once not slow in coming forward to back this officer and quite right. What annoys me is that even if she doesnt get money we will end up with the bill.

No sorry!!
I saw that 2 and u can clearly see that the police is hunching her many many times especially on her head.
The video sows 4-5 policeman punching a girl. Drunk or not, epileptic or not they don't have the right to punch a woman.
She doesn't have the strength to defend her shelf, and they where 4-5 policeman.
No no no !!!!!!!
What ever she was the DON'T have the right.
