Why would a guy (23 years old) who have a decent career, like to wear fashion designer clothes, look sharp all of the time, and have lot of class like a punk girls? Why would he like it if the girl bites or scratches him until he bleed? He has never been into vampire or any of that stuff. Yet we believe he is the one who is domination in the relationship but a machoist.

Is there any way to change way he look at this?

Hope someone can help, this is a very embarassing situtation for a mother.

That is something that is a private issue of his. I don't think a mother should be concerned about her child's sexual behavior. After years of hearing crap from my family I had to very bluntly tell them to mind their own business, and now I only visit them every 2 years or so. If you don't want something like that to happen, better MYOB.

You are looking for a clear cut answer about a complex psychological reaction. That is his preference and he won't change it short of aggressive aversion therapy.

How is this embarrassing? Embarrassment is a reaction of the EGO to threatening stimulus. This is his choice and has nothing to do with you. Maybe he like the punk girls because their manner of dress and thinking reaches out beyond the tight fitting little box everyone else wants to put him in. There is no embarrassment as long as he isn't walking around, flaunting it to the neighborhood.

I think he should be made aware that he has problems. I am afraid he associates his self-esteem with those branded stuff. He is masking himself. Admit that he has problems and fix them. The same goes with his sex habit. It's ok being a masochist in a moderate sense. But when bleeding? It's too risky young man. He can get killed and may put others at risk. His blood maybe contaminated.

My advise, save some money. Travel to South America, Asia or Africa. See the world and see where you are in this world.
