the best dvd burning program that I have found is dvd fab gold-- you can try a 30 day trial of it and it will burn everything and they play in any dvd player/ also you can reinstall ur os after the 30 day trial and do it again but you are not going to be albe to find a progrma for free that will give you the region codes you need to be albe to play the movies on an actual dvd player

dvdfab is a good option (although you can pick up a registration keygen a lot easier than reinstalling your windows - duh)

anyway fab gold or fab platinum is really fine for ripping and burning....fab decrypter is actually freeware and you can rip the disc and then load the files with dvdshrink(also freeware)

Also, all the fab programs as well as dvdshrink will remove region coding and set it to region 0 by default so the disc can be played on any dvd player....you can also manually select a specific region if you like but no real reason for that

Dvd fab decrypter is free, but won't shrink the disk to fit a dvd5 unless you pay for gold or platunum. If you must have free, get dvd decrypter to rip the disk to your hard drive. then shrink it with dvd shrink, then burn it with nero or the free dvd fab decrypter.
