Usually, one will be able to answer this question if the universe is unidirectional and only have one dimension. Then is appropriate to ask where it starts and where it ends, just like say in a race, where there is a starting point and an ending point an a direction of travel. However, the universe is way beyond that. It is as we know it 3 dimensional and multi-directional, therefore its not appropriate to ask where it starts or where it ends. Perhaps the question you are asking is whether or not it is possible to reach the end of the universe. We know from cosmic background radiation, that the universe is constantly expanding (just like filling a balloon slowly filling with air). As such, it is not unreasonable to think that we can reach the end of the universe, but what begs the question is what is beyond the universe? The only answer one can give is "non-universe". What lies beyond the universe can only be "non-universe".

The universe is always expanding (due to the big bang theory). The theory suggests that at the very beginning there was an infathomable amount of energy inside a tiny tiny space probably smaller than an electron...then it exploded and out of all that energy is what is all around us (earth, moon, stars, even us)....This was based on the idea that there was a battle between matter and anti-matter. Matter is what we see around us, anti-matter is empty space. But, in the beginning, for everyone 100 million parts of anti-matter, there was 100 million and 1 parts of matter. This is what gave us the big bang. Hope that helps...No one knows where it started, but it started at a finite point and then grew in all directions like an ever growing sphere. It still continues to grow and will probably never stop. All of this is based on all scientific knowledge known at this point...

The universe started with the Big Bang. Since all the universe was at the one point at that time, every point in the universe can be considered to be the location of the start of the universe.

The universe (it appears) will continue expanding forever, so it won't ever end.

Where? This is hard, because when you study physics notions like time and space no longer mean the same things, on the edges of theory, as they once did. The universe is a very strange place, from the viewpoint of a normal human being. Even Feynman said, "If you think you understand quantum theory, you don't understand quantum theory."

we can "see" nearly 15 billion light years in every direction, so we really don't know how big is the universe. It could be 300 trillion light years wide (finite) or infinite.
And we are not in the center of course.

Considering the universeis now pretty much known to be always expanding.. the relative start and ending points would be always changing. (That is if it could be measured... )
