Why is it that people with darker complected avatars don't seem to care, judging by their answers. Are they naive, selfish, short-sighted, or are we just being bigots by acknoledging the facts?!

Many people know and most don't care. Its a global market now whether good or bad. Its almost impossible to find anything that's 100% american anywhere.

Newsflash:

1. Most of the electronics and appliances and clothing and decorative items in your house were made in China. You cannot be a Western consumer without buying something made in China, no matter where you shop.

2. Nearly 50% of China's exports are owned by foreign corporations (think GE and Sony) that have factories in China (90% of their high-tech exports are foreign owned).

3. China buys dollar securities to keep its currency and economy stable and because America is the safest investment destination in the world. The interest the U.S. pays on those treasuries is less than the interest generated on the investments made in U.S. capital stock using those borrowed dollars. Translation: we win.

4. If China weren't there then we would be selling the same amount of debt to other countries and importing the same products from other countries.

5. Look at U.S. debt as a % of GDP and compare it to our own country's historical debt-to-GDP ratio and that of other Western countries and you will see that this is a NON-issue.

6. Look up the term "dollar hegemony"

I could go on, but you get the point. You need to spend more time learning about economics and less time parroting what you hear from a few protectionist politicians pandering to their voter bases.

Wal-Mart is filled mostly with Chinese-made stuff, but the Chinese government will probably not last too long.

Who knows, America might default on its debt someday. Some third parties have had that in their platform in the past.

The government shouldn't be spending so much in the first place. Then we wouldn't have a debt to China.

China's gonna break the Federal Reserve though when they switch off the Dollar Standard and go on the Euro Standard. The banks may go bankrupt and the Gold Standard will probably return to America.
