you'll need a special holder that you can actually buy from most dollar store and walmart before you put it in the dishwasher. other wise you will ruin the shape, you can also try going to a local hat store sometimes they sell special cleaners!

If you have a dishwasher you can put it on the top dish rack this will clean a baseball cap easily, but don't leave it on the high heat setting to dry either remove the cap or leave in dishwasher with air dry or take out to dry someplace. Good Luck !

From Mariette Mifflin:
A. Yes, that's true. Just lay them out on the racks, add your dishwasher detergent as usual, and turn it on. You may want to place your caps on their sides if the top of the brim is heavily soiled, or you may need to repeat the washing process. {do not dry in dishwasher- it worked on my brother's cap & I didn't use a baseball cap shaper}
Another method to wash ball caps that I find works very well, since most brims now have a plastic insert instead of cardboard, is to wash them along with a permanent press, low spin, warm or cold washload in your clothes washer. This allows you to pre-spray with stain remover if needed.
Do not put ball caps in the dryer though, since most are made of cotton and may shrink, and the brim may not retain its proper shape. Just hang to dry.

Wash it with the same colors in the washer, don't put in the dryer, get a tall bowl, place the cap on top of it to let dry, this will keep its shape, they sell hat dryer shapers in some places too.

I throw them contained in the bathing gadget suitable alongside with something of the laundry. in no way in warm water, in no way with bleach. carry close to dry. Been washing 4-6 of them a week for 10 years, have not ruined one yet.

if you are still afraid to clean it through the machines you can always hand wash them with about a tsp of detergent in a bowl of water you may take a soft bristle toothbrush to scrub stubborn spots rinse well and let air dry
