I'm Asian and my supervisor is Mexican. It seems like all the supervisors or head positions are entitled to Mexican cadidates. I'm the only Asian, four blacks, and one white, so there is a total of 30 staff members and the rest are all Mexicans. They hold or are placed in the supervisory or seniority party. So me and the non-mexican group is kinda worried that we will be squeezed out of the loop. Two new hires were brought in and both were named Martinez. I've never been racist, for god sake i'm a minority too. But can anyone agree that there is a huge racial barrier in this matter? I asked him for a raise or a promotion because I've been there long enough and deserve it but most likely he will choose someone else preferable Mexican. So is that fair? and if you think there is something shady going on who can I report this to?

Discrimination claims can be reported two ways: at the state level, they can be reported to your state's commissioned office against discrimination (what that office is called varies from state to state...check your phone book for more info). On a federal level, it can be reported to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which can also be found in the phone book. A claim can be reported to both offices as they are different sets of laws, however it is generally prudent to discuss a situation at a state-level office before going to the EEOC.

As per the U.S. Whistleblower's Act, it is illegal for your employer to retaliate against you for consulting with or filing a claim with these commissions.

How do you know that the decision is based on race? Racism has been used so much for an excuse that it really don.t mean that much anymore. Find a better job and accept the way the world is and you will be better off. Life is not fair and never will be.
