You want that answered in a yahoo question?

Sociologists spend years studying issues like this.

You'd be better off doing a bit of research as the reasosn are complex and far reaching, and can go back generations.

Lack of education, lack of money, inability to obtain well paid employment, high expenses due to trying to support many people on minimal income, welfare traps, being "guilted" into going ahead with an unwanted pregnancy, drug addiction, criminal association, sometimes even (sadly) downright laziness.

Or, you could just say:

teen sex = teen pregnancy

lack of money/unemployment = poverty

Sorry to sound trite but it is a serious issue, if you want a serious answer you'll have to do a bit of research.

it begins in the home. Not enough communication between parent and child. No one educating the child about sex and birth control and abstinence. Teens who do not receive enough love and hugs at home will seek it elsewhere. Imagine being hugged for the first time at age 13. Some cannot fathom that their teens are having sex--'she's never even had a date!'. Then you have a teen dropout and a father dropout and the poverty continues.

Lack of communication and education in the home while growing up. Lack of paying attention in school. Coming from a family that started out with a teen pregnancy (Parents who were teens and "had" to get married)

It's a case by case type of thing. One pregnant teen doesn't have the same as another pregnant tee.

Bad parenting. When parents are are involved in their childrens' life and show them what it means to be a responsible adult, those children grow up much better. A lot of teenagers that are sexually active, are behaving that way to feel love or attention from another person. If more parents would take care of their children and homes, there would be less problems with teen pregnancy.
