Why is it some recent immigrants refuse to learn English?

If by English you mean what the Americans speak then yes I would refuse to speak it too. I just wish you guys would call it American because it sure as hell is not English.

Some countries have altogether diverse cultures so different than ours that in many aspects can be looked as offensive to the immigrant.
For example the nudity which western women dress is taken for granted by our culture on the other hand a Muslim father brother husband looks upon this with a preoccupied view.
Values such as the importance of family, marriage, community,hospitality in some countries are an non discussable reality .
These same factors in western countries are taken lightly they are not considered the pillars of society but personal experiments of freedom.
For this reason some foreign communities choose to isolate themselves ,not speak the language as a form of culture preservation.The more our country exercise the wright to personal freedom the more we put at stake some fundamental values.
Some comunities and foreign groups are not prepared to jeopardize this.

What makes you think they refuse to learn English? What is the basis of your opinion. Do you personally know an immigrant who says "I am not going to learn English"?

Or, are you just parroting something you may have heard on hate-filled conservative talk radio or Faux news?

Probably the biggest reason is that they are very uneducated and most cant even read or write in their own languages never mind learn to speak another,and the feds and states make it easy for them to be lazy and not do it as everything is in Spanish or Portuguese now as well as English.

There is no reason for them to learn English. Mostly they live in enclaves and are separated from the majority of the culture. People have complained about the same issue in decades past about Russians, Italians, Germans, Chinese, etc.

They aren't going to stay here or if they do why would they , when they don't need to . We make it very convenient for them not to . Besides when they take over America , we'll have to learn Spanish

there are very proud of thier country and family i wish themmy best but i don't accept the fact they are in my country and flying thier flag in front of me and my children who by the grace of god are free to speake english as our tongue of choice which was bought by our soliders thru thier devotion and willingness to die 4 freedom so that u an me could debat e this i say if u want to live here learn english

Because they don't want to become Americans, and leave behind their old ways. They just want to come here and work and send money home where they will eventually return.

I guess it's more like they cant than refuse learning.
Most are of advanced age where learning idiminishes.
