This question is only for parents of School Kids (Primary/ Secondary). Others: please don't reply! Thanks.

Please answer the following also, if you have the time and some experience to share: What attempts have you or your kids made to make them like math? Did these attempts succeed or fail? In either case, can you please share your experience? Any idea, what other alternative attempt may succeed better?

they hate math because they don't understand it. You need 2 spend time to explain patiently to them. When they understand the concept, they will love it for sure. Try to give them exercise too. Make sure they have a good foundation of math.

My son has done very well, average and poorly in math-it has ALL depended on if he likes and respects his teacher or not. It is extremely frustrating, but I understand-some teachers are better motivators than others.
I don't know if you can "make" your child like anything. What you can do as a parent is expect a level of commitment to the class.
Make sure homework is done every night and check it.-Most schools post daily homework on their websites.
If a grade falls below an accepted level, and you believe it is due to laziness-take something away-but have the punishment already prepared and you HAVE to stick to it for the deemed time frame or you aren't doing your job.

Fortunately, both my kids love and are gifted in maths, I am not at all! My son Max, who's 10 finds it logical and easy and my daughter Sarah, who is seven feels the same, they love Sudoku, that's something you should try to make them interested in the mathematical logic. It's fun and challenging at the same time. Good luck!

It's all about weather they "get it" or not. if they do they feel proud and like it. But if they don't then they toss it asside and claim that they hate it. You have to/the teacher has to explain slowly and calmly, and make sure they understand the basics. Or you could get them a tutor.

I hope this helps! xXxXxXx
Good luck :D
