Agree. However, people have varying opinions of what good is, and from this comes difference of opinion. Conflicting ideas and differences of opinion will always exist. This is why a Utopian society will never be realized.

There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.
You can do good for others and still be miserable. There are plenty of people who selflessly give of themselves because they are tormented by past grief. The act of being happy is just a decision like being outgoing or being sarcastic. You choose to be happy or not.
What you talk about above is just gratification. You do something nice for someone and are gratified for doing it. Don't confuse gratification with happiness. Of course you feel good after doing something nice for someone.
Now put this into the mix... what about when you do what you think is something nice for someone, but then you find out that you've actually made matters worse. Remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

YES, although I have a different theory on who created me. But I think all people can grow to live in happiness when they learn to live selflessly and act selfishly on anothers' behalf. It's all about treating others as you would like them to treat you.
Some people don't treat or take care of themselves as they should, I think this is the modern downfall of man and may be the reason so many ARE unhappy. If you cannot lift yourself up, how can you ever raise up anyone else?

Personally, I find great satisfaction in doing selfless acts for others. Perhaps that is why I contribute to this site.
Others, however, are of the philosophical mindset that altruism is a worthless cause; that one must act in one's own best interest. Take the most ardent followers of Ayn Rand, for instance.
I do not believe that satisfaction is derived from a higher power--it comes from within. If one believes that doing good to others is a worthwhile cause, then satisfaction is simply a by-product of such acts.

I totally consider the fact. in certainty we've born in this international no longer for our very own sake yet to help the unlucky brethren to complete fill their ordinary needs of existence. we've not born to get excitement from yet to serve different much less fortunate beings. provider is the optimal distinctive function whilst achieved selflessly. in certainty all prophets, seers and saints of all religions emphasis provider extra effective than prayer. Sai Baba has stated that the palms that serve are holier than the lips that pray. however the provider could be unquestionably selfless to develop into sensible. nagarajan.

Yeah. I would say I agree. I know that the things that I have the fondest memories of and the times that I have been happiest is when I was helping somebody with pure motives.

I don't believe in selfless acts. Our motives are always somewhat selfish. Even in this case, you'd be helping others for your own happiness, to help yourelf. So no one can be purely altruistic.
But that's not a bad thing. Doing good to others is always a good idea.
