(obviously i'm not expecting a deal with Geffen or something, but what exactly IS a label, and how does the process work (in simple terms for a total newbie)?

In the entertainment industry, there are many features and one of them is age. The industry is looking for the 8 year old who will begin a career in show business-singer.

I have had the same problem with plays I have written. My name isn't Neil Simon or Arthur Miller, so I incorporated my own theater company.

You need to get exposure for your songs. Work hard toward your goals and it will all fall into place. Contests and bands are a great start for new comers to get into the entertainment business. With a little luck, the big labels will come to you.

But, if you are out of High School, it's going to be that much more difficult to get a recording session with any label as they are looking for young, very young talent.

To many people in the entertainment busines, it's all about making money, not the artist-singer.

Please check my profile and if I could help you I will.

Good luck.
