For the CPU specs, goto the AMD website. Just a couple of comments. My latest machine I let the factory build (Wortmann AG, made in Germany), so my components are matched. The ASUS moboard, the nVidia PCIe card, the SCSI RAID with the Athlon 64 single core -- and I was overawed. It does what I want it to do for 3D animation, video edit, downloads off the internet -- much faster than a buddy's homebrew duo-core AMD. I think on my machine the 512 front cache and the fact I'm running Linux 64-bit is one of the major reasons for the faster file transfers.

There isn't a lot of software available, yet, for 64-bit. Certainly for gaming. The fact that I run Linux lets me specialize free software into a "make" for 64-bit. Again, it remains to be seen what duo-core can do and what the software writers will do with that technology.

AMD's are good CPU, Semprons 3100+ is on bottom end of the spectrums, Athlon's on the other hand is more upgradable, I believed it is on the 5000 series.
Check "Tomshardware.com" for more details. This is the site I constantly check if I upgrade my system.
