Uh, a gallon of gas in Australia is about USD$5-6 per gallon at the moment. We would LOVE for it to be back to even $4 per gallon. It's insanely expensive!

California - check out how much tax is in that $2.91 - its not a supply thing you guys have delivery terminals and refineries in state. I just drove North to South - Columbus, Oh to Orlando Florida and unleaded was almost all around $2.45. I think Ohio gets around 50 cents a gallon in taxes after the local towns get their cut.

After reading other answers I gotta tell ya - worldwide crude prices are the same- refining costs are the same - unleaded gas is sold on the commodities exchange just like wheat and corn - April wholesale unleaded gas closed today at $1.896 per gallon. The politicians are rippin you off and blaming the oil companies. Its the taxes that make it prohibitively expensive.

it's because oil is running out and gasoline will be completely gone in the next 50 years at the very least. more so with so many driving gas guzzling vehicles (not just suvs). and yet the same people complain rather than get a more fuel efficient vehicle since they can afford it (some cannot and i understand that) that's why we need to force our governments to make alternative fuels mandatory right now. not later not in a few years this very instant.

Yes..and by the time we fill up again it might be over $4.

You still love those fossil fuel-lovin' government types? I'm voting for Linda Lovelace, a great decision maker. She might blow a few here and there, but won't choke on the big one.
