I agree with your comments on welfare but in regards to Businesses i agree partly with what you say but also Dissagree at the same time.

When looking at laws and regulations which restrict businesses it needs to be looked at on a "state by state basis" as each state has different rules and regulations on governing business.

It is not as easy as putting them all under one umbrella and saying each states rules and regulations need to change. I will admit i dont know alot about the laws and regulations governing business as i am quite young however i do know that each state has both positive and negitive regulations which need to be looked at and possibly reviewed.

For example One positive regulation NSW may have may not be good for business' in another state due to another regulations that state may have. I do beleive there should be a "National System" in place which governs these rules and regulations for each state to make it standard across Australia so if a business chooses to expand interstate they will be governed by the same rules and regulations they are governed by in the state they came from. Currently when a business expands interstate they must alter their business in one way or another to accomodate another states rules and regulations.

WELFARE;

The whole idea of welfare is to provide a payment to a person or persons to help supplement their income for one reason or another. It could be due to them being unemployed or simply having a disability which prevents them from working full time. The key word i just mentioned in the statement above is SUPPLEMENT.

Australia's welfare system is too easy to obtain and gives too much money away. As i mentioned before it is meant to be a supplement and not enough money for a person to live off but as you may already be aware the goverment provides more than enough money for a person to live comfortably on welfare payments.

For example a person on the newstart allowance which is for someone who is unemployed but has to go to a minimum of 10 job interviews a week is $480 a fortnight including rent assistance (or at least this is how much a girl who was living with me was getting). With most people on welfare they live in areas where rent is cheap so most of the time they are only paying $50-$100 a week rent. Keeping this in mind they could potentially be living off $130 a week after their rent expenses are paid. This is more than enough for a person to live off expecially if they are living in a poorer areas or remote areas where their total cost of living (incl. food) is quite small.

Alot of people on welfare who have never worked can usually only obtain a minimum award paying job which may only get them around $350 a week after tax which is only $130 more than what welfare pays them. People sit back and think well if i can get $230 a week from the government for sitting on my **** doing nothing why would i work 38hours a week for an extra $130? this provides no incentive for an individual like that to work.

In summary I do need to state though, not every person on welfare is like that. I do think we should provide welfare but it should be provided at a lesser rate so as only to SUPPLEMENT their income and not be their only income and so there is also a motivation for a person to get off welfare

I agree. Restricting businesses can do one of two things. It either squelches some good ideas which are too costly to get through all the red tape, or it creates a black market for the industry, such as paying individuals under the table to avoid paying taxes or filing some sort of paperwork, or some other such measure. Allowing a business to operate freely in the market place is efficient, since a business that conducts itself poorly will have to answer when the consumers turn to another producer.

As far as welfare, it is a drain upon resources. It also gives some individuals motivation not to seek a job, which is the opposite of what it is intended to do. Individuals who can get the same amount of money, or nearly so, by staying home rather than working have no incentive to look for a job. This simply worsens the problem.
