We have 2. The main central air unit and a window unit. We do not have one in our bedroom.

Only one single portable air conditioner, that usually ends up in the family room during the summer. We have a fan for almost every room though that helps, even though it would be easier with a completely air conditioned house (I only have a heater in my house). =)

One in the front room that is super *NOT* economical even though it's new. It's rated 9 out of 10, 10 being bad.
We have ceiling fans for our bedrooms, and that usually does it when the windows are open.
