I went through a rental company here in AZ and found this house, however everyone is most likely 55 and older. Anyways to get to my point my neighbors look at me like I am an alien. (2) I have recieved a letter explaining that I cannot walk my dogs in a certain area...even though I clean up after their mess. (2) I just recieved a letter that my yard was very untidy. However, I clean it at least once a week. Yes, it could get a little untidy but geez. I have two dogs and work up to 14 hours daily. My neighbors have not once said one word to me....at least the ones to the left. The neighbors to the right I always talk to and they never have anything bad to say.

Well, What I'm really getting at is should I even be living in a 55 and older community since I'm only 25? PLUS! I just looked at a "renters" list and the community that I'm living in has 2 homes available but they state "55 and older community" (this is from the rental company that I go through"

It depends on the community's by-laws. Some would restrict you staying there, others don't IF the owner is 55+. If there are age-specific by-laws, unless your lease expressly said you had to be of a certain age, the only people doing anything illegal are those who rented to you.

I have lived in 55+ communities and one thing that is very common to them is that people living there are, for the most part, retired and have A LOT of time on their hands. They tend to obsess over the most inconsequential things, because it is something out of the ordinary and exciting.

As I see it, if you are indeed not breaking any laws then you have two options: just hang in there and hope the neighbors eventually find something else to entertain them or see if you have any legal options against the owners (or rental agency) to help defray your costs to move somewhere else.

Good luck.

Check it out. The courts in Arizona have upheld the rights of the 55 or older communities. They are legal.

Perhaps your rental agent broke the law. You should ask the Home Owners Association about the rule.

Good luck.

If they try to kick you out that is age discrimnation.
It's your property unless it's from the city to say wher you walk your dog to hell with them. as far as "Untidy" and not enough time in theday I hear ya.. Tell them to take it up with the land loard. you are not accountable for the yard

Unless there is something in the lease that specifically states how old you have to be to live there, it's not illegal.
