BETHANY-
I loved your answer!! Loved it, thats exctly what Im looking for. Even though my child's name was on your "no" list.. haha.
I just wanted to say that my friends chose "Ayla" from the Jean M. Auel books.. The Mammoth Hunters Series (aka Clan Of The Cave Bear).. so we laughed that you guys thought it was "futuristic".. Lol, just because the book in which the name came from is set back in the Cave Man era :)
Perfect answer though, JUST what we're looking for.
Great details on why you liked, or disliked a name... LOVE IT!!

Nova (no-vuh)-no, it makes me think of a car, (Everybody's had a ride the town Nova.)

Ayla (A-luh)- I love it, it's very pretty and flows nicely with almost any middle name

Kya (kigh-uh)- This is nice but i'm not crazy about it it sort of falls flat when said too much, I like Kyla instead

Karla- Never have enjoyed this name, it seems a little to stuck up, nowadays Carly sounds a bit better

Andrea- This is my best friend's name and I think it's beautiful, every Andrea i've ever know turned out artistic

Ashlee- Too common, but with the double e at the end it seems like you're trying too hard to make it unique

Tianna (Tee-on-uh)- sounds like a french whore

Ajah (Asia)- nope, spell it Asia and it's a little better, once again it's like you're trying too hard to make it unique

Charlene (char-lean)- Could be cute, very cute actually, I'm starting to enjoy more old fashioned names like this one

Mia (me-uh)- Maybe better as a middle name also falls flat as a first.

Alyssa (uh-liss-uh)- I haven't heard this name on a new child in a long time, it's cute, simple yet a little more unique now

Madison- decent, sounds good with one of the below names...Madison Riley

Kiera (key-air-uh)- Trying too hard in the pronunciation, shold just be pronouved Keyr-ah becausethat's the way it looks.

Tenlee- yuck, sounds like a white trash bowling team

Ryleigh (rye-lee)- Should be Riley (I agree with Bethany), it's cute

Peyton- Stuck up, i've never known a goo peyton boy or girl

Kaylee- beautiful, unique, flows nicely, good choice

Zoe- it's ok, i'm starting to hear it more and more lately, kinda boring.

I'd say the winners are Kaylee and Ayla...great names.

Nova (no-vuh) No. too easily pickable. My first thought is No-duh.

Ayla (A-luh) No. A luh what?

Kya (kigh-uh) no. High-uh?

Karla-- I like older names, but not this one

Andrea-- this is nice. I like Andi as a nick name.

Ashlee-- Although this is failrly common, it always reminds me of what a burning cigarette does, and sounds like a hippie-term. "My smoke is getting too ash-lee."

Tianna (Tee-on-uh) Sounds like somewhere in Mexico you'd go to party; not a kids' name. I like some place names.

Ajah (Asia) Leave the continent names to the continents.

Charlene (char-lean) this is ok. Char or Charlie is cute for a little girl.

Mia (me-uh) ok.

Alyssa (uh-liss-uh) This is pretty. I don't think I'd use it, but it is pleasant sounding.

Madison-- girls' names shouldn't end in -son

Kiera (key-air-uh) no.

Tenlee-- What?

Ryleigh (rye-lee)-- boys' name

Peyton-- boys' name

Kaylee-- ok. I prefer Haylee, short for Hazel Lee

Zoe-- I think of the church secretary of the church I went to college everytime I see this. However, she rhymes her name with "joe" and I can't get used to the 2 syllable pronounciation of this.

We're a group here and we've been extremely critical, as you requested.
We like Kya very much.
Zoe and Mia are nice too.
We also like Asia and Alicia and Riley in these spellings.
We hope we have helped.

Nova (no-vuh)
a bit new age
Ayla (A-luh)
Too futuristic.
Kya (kigh-uh)
We like Kya.
Karla
should be spelled with a C
Andrea
Old fashioned
Ashlee
should be spelled Ashley
Tianna (Tee-on-uh)
Cocktail waitress
Ajah (Asia)
Should have been spelled "Asia"
Charlene (char-lean)
Common, domestic
Mia (me-uh)
Always makes me think of Mia Farrow
Alyssa (uh-liss-uh)
I prefer Alicia
Madison
I think we're over Madison
Kiera (key-air-uh)
Trying too hard
Tenlee
No. Just no.
Ryleigh (rye-lee)
Spelling again. Riley, probably.
Peyton
Peyton Place. Doesn't it, you?
Kaylee
A little bit of Alabama.
Zoe
Yes, we like Zoe.

I am really into unique names. The drawback is that I can never pick out pins or stuff like that with my kids' names on them.
LOVED:
Nova (no-vuh) ---- never heard that one b4
Ayla (A-luh) ---- never heard
Kya (kigh-uh)
Tianna (Tee-on-uh)
Kiera (key-air-uh)
Tenlee ----------------> MY FAVORITE! never heard either
Ryleigh (rye-lee)

DIDN'T LOVE:
Ajah (Asia) - I knew a girl by the name of Asia and she stole my boyfriend; Once I dislike someone by a certain name, I get a sour taste in my mouth about it. Nothing personal though - it's still cute.

The rest of the names I was indifferent about.

Not to be paranoid, but 10% of all people in mental hospitals are there because their mis-named, (not a joke, look it up), so you're making an important decision here.

Nova ....A star exploding? This is good WHY? (Not!)
Andrea Greek origins, means "Womanly"..Filled with grace (YES)
Ashlee Old English "Medow" Harmony (Another YES)
Charlene English "Valiant" Corageous (OH YEAH)
Alyssa Hispanic "Truthful" Child of Truth (YES)

In essence, naming a child is preparation for who they will be.

BTW Nova is likely a form of Novia Spanish "Sweetheart" beloved (Clearly, my not MUST become a solid THUMBS UP!)

Get the book, it's insightful, if nothing else

Cool

Zoe Greek "life" Delivered (Possibly my favorite)

The only ones that I would actually consider naming my children are: Ryleigh (I like the unique spelling of the name), Peyton (But not for a girl, for a boy) and Kaylee (because it is cute and I like the combination in a name with both a Y and two E's). Other than that, I don't really like any of the others, most of which I have bad associations of people who have those names.

My favorite one on the list would have to be * AYLA *.
I think that it is a very beautiful & uncommon name.

But for the most part, I like most of the names on the list. The only ones that I dont like are Karla, Ajah & Charlene. Karla & Charlene are older sounding names to me & I just dont like Ajah.

I like Nova, Karla, Charlene, Mia, Madison and Zoe. The rest are all over used or lack sophistication.
