Counter productive to what?..
Intelligent political debate, yes. Questions like "Does our president look like a chimp?" really don't improve anyone's knowledge of politics.
The Liberal agenda, no. Every time some glassy eyed anti-war kook repeats the mantra, "Bush lied, people died." They push themselves further into Liberal zombie land. The only truth the Liberal party hits on is that if you say something enough people begin to believe it.

At least the guy is still President and in a position to be bashed. I still see Republicans bash Clinton incessantly and he has been out of office for 6 years.

some is... some isn't...
in some there are actual issues at play... and these issues need to be dealt with...
like harriet meyers and selling the ports... someone needed to bash both of those ideas... and even Republicans were in line to bash him over those...
while many other issues aren't as "black and white" as those, it can clearly have an effect... I mean would rummy be fired if no one said anything? probably not...

It is not at all counter-productive!
As we criticize, others are either swayed by our arguments OR they solidify their own beliefs! Either way, a more informed public will go to the polls.
Besides, it is our duty, in a representative democracy to point out the errors in leadership and to call for a change if there needs to be one. There does at this time!!

It encourages radical Muslims and lowers the level of political discourse in this country so yes, it's counter-productive. But it's the only thing many liberals have going for them so I'd hate to take it away.

It points out the truth. We've been calling Bush a kook for a long time, and his deranged policies in Iraq and with the economy have stuck us where we are today - a country on the ropes because the cons can't tie their shoelaces properly.

Yes.
No one offers any suggestions they just want to leave in the middle of a war. The libs don't even consider consequences, though they are told time and again.
If they would take the wax out of their ears, their brains would fall out.
