The only thing you left out of your question that would have helped is how old your kids are.
The Orleans is a very nice, family friendly hotel.
1-very nice rooms
2-Great food options
French Market Buffet> My #3 best value buffet in all of LV
Prime Rib Loft>One of the top "moderately" priced Steakhouses in LV
Courtyard Cafe>My favorite "graveyard" specials in LV
Terrible Mike's>Great burgers
They have a number of restaurants & fast food outlets that I do not mention.
3-Kids Tyme >child care for 3-9YO - it was 2-12 a week ago?
4-Video Arcade
5-Bowling
6-18 screen movie theater
7-free shuttle to the strip
8-adjoing rooms>If your kids are older and you want two rooms.
9-they give you each of you a very nice "fun" book at check in>some pretty good coupons in there.
The Orleans will price match the best online rate you can find for their hotel. The best rate I could find for those dates was $60 on "i4vegas.com" >Travelworm was $62
http://www.orleanshotel.com >to check out the hotel
Orleans reservations 1-800-675-3267 -
The rate on the Orleans web site is $60.
If you would like an incredible view from your room. When you check in ask for a room on the 16th-19th floors, room #'s 02-44(even #'s) the higher the # the closer you are to the elevators> Rooms such as 1634-1740-1832-1944 would all have incredible views of the strip.
I have recommended the Orleans many times & have never had anyone tell me it was not a great place.
I agree with those above that the Excalibur is the best of the kid friendly hotels on the strip, and their pool is much nicer than the Orleans. In every other way though, the Orleans is the much nicer hotel for a family.
I have a promo code for the Luxor if you're interested
Luxor > PC "PGET18" good until 5/31

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for more than 20 years. The Orleans since it opened(96 If memory serves) has been one of our favorites, we spend a week or two there each year. We will be back in LV May 20th - June 4th & at at Orleans from the 28th until the 1st at $24 per night(rate from travelworm 11/9)

I always recommend Excalibur. It's on the southern end of the strip, so it's nearer to most of the newer properties. Fun things for kids nearby include the arcade at the Luxor, the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand, the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the roller coaster at NYNY, and Excalibur has free shows for kids on their food court level. You can always take a daytrip to Circus Circus for the theme park.
the hotel website is www.excalibur.com
Your dates aren't cheap, though. Two major conventions are bringing about 76,000 people to town that week.
Excalibur is asking $121 per night for those nights. (Assuming your kids are under twelve and therefore free.) The following week is $71 for the first three nights and $91 for the fourth night.
Have fun!

Excalibur I suppose I would never recommend taking children to Vegas because it is not meant for them. Circus Circus has always given me the creaps and am scared to go there my self and I am a big guy. If you just want to use the pools and stuff that might be ok at the Mirage.

Most of the major casinos in Vegas have something that caters to kis these days whether it be an arcade, some kin of show, pools, rollercoasters, SOMETHING. The usual biggies to stay at with kids are Circus Circus, & Excalibur.

Luxor has an arcade and children's area located on the second floor in the middle of the pyramid. Their pool area is great as well. This hotel is all over neat.
Excalibur has plenty of children themed activities and shops.
NYNY offers its roller coaster and large arcade area.
MGM Grand has it's live lion exhibit. It is free to walk through the exhibit. You can pay for a picture with a real live lion cub. This hotel is rather large and primarily caters to adults.
Mirage has its dolphin/white lion exhibit. It was pricey and rather small when my husband, my young nephews and niece, and myself went through it last year.
Caesars Palace has free shows at their main fountains. They are animitronic and very cool. Once you enter Caesars ask someone on staff how to get to the fountains, there are 2 of them that we saw. They also offer an informative fish exhibit once a week so you can call or ask someone there when it is. They feed the fish and a staff member talks about them. That was free too.
You can get to the MGM/Luxor/Excalibur/NYNY end of the strip by taking the monorail which you can pick up near Harrahs/Imperial Palaces station and take it down to MGM. My nephews and niece loved the monorail ride and it wasn't that expensive.

I stayed at excalibur last time, and it had a great arcade. However, that was pretty much it for kid-friendly. The rest of the floor was all slot machines. But hey, that's Vegas for you.

New York, New York is really great for kids. They have the arcades and games, without the "cheese" aspect that circus circus has...

I haven't been to Vegas in 7 years, but I think Excalibur may cater to children.

The Orleans is nice. I am planning a family reunion there and we have lots of kids in the family. They have a movie theatre, bowling, play room with babysitting and a nice arcade. My kids like it.
