I do not know why your Doctor is recommending an out dated abdominal hysterectomy when patients undergoing vaginal hysterectomy have fewer overall complications, shorter hospital stays, and shorter convalescence periods than abdominal hysterectomy. (See the above web address)

I assume since you are having your ovaries removed there is cancer involved?

The ONG question made me research for an half an hour and I could not find anything. I searched various medical glossaries, search engines, etc. and could not find anything. I even used the first response (ovarian new growth) guess and that did not get any hits. The only thing I can say is what you already know, that is call your Doctors nurse and ask what it is.
