there's something about her that makes me doubt that she's the next american idol.
does anyone else think so?
i mean she's pretty and her voice is like woah. but idk. maybe it's the fact that she looks scared every tuesday. hmm. any thoughts?

This girl is the most talent this show has EVER had, EVER! Her voice is so amazing i have no idea how she had managed to stay as a back up singer for so long without having been discovered. She has this competition and the title in her bag, no doubt about it, and if for some reason she doesn't this show is RIGGED, but i can bet anything that she will. Lakisha is amazing too, incredible voice, but i still like Melinda better. My prediction is that both of them are going to be the final two. As so your comment about her not seeming like the "American Idol" i just think that it's because she's been so used to being hiding in the back for so long, she still doesn't have that feel or prescence to dominate the stage (excluding her voice). I'm sure that once she wins and some music executives get their greedy little hands on her, they're gonna turn her into the next Whitney Houston or something. You'll see....

I have been pondering this same scenario. After giving it much thought, I do believe she has the right stuff to be an idol. She has a very unique look, and she is very very cute and sweet. The passion in her voice is way beyond the other contestants.
After several seasons of idol, it is apparent that the look and personality are very important aspects of winning. I truly believe she is a breath of fresh air. I have been checking blogs and chat rooms all over the internet and most of the people talking about Melinda seem to feel the same way, that she just captivates and dominates the stage.
So she is a little shy, that is because she is humble, I hope she stays that way WHEN she wins the contest....she will win.....there is no question....
Every now and then a real talent comes out of the wood work. It hapened with Aretha Franklin, Barbara Strisand....My opinion is that Melinda is the next Aretha Franklin...She has something so original that people are drawn to hear more.
The only way to hear more of her is to keep her in the competetion. She is going to win.....trust..

Melinda fits the age requirements -the show makes sure of that. She didn't seem like the pop-idol they are looking for, but I think her fantastic voice and weekly enormous growth is going to make her the most likely choice. I could listen to her sing all day long! And what a wonderful personality she has, too!

Well honestly, and I am not being mean and these are not my comments, but you know the world and media in today's soceity everyone has to have the face and body, and knowing america, they aren't going to vote for her when it get down. Look at Jennifer Hudson, they voted her off because of the same reason, so hopefully America has changed a little, but I like her, the other African American girl with the short hair, and LaKeisha I forgot her last name, but she is representing my state, and has a lot of talent. A boy is definitly not going to win. So those are my thoughts, and she may not win, but may be in the top 3 or 4 in my oppinion.

The reason that she seems different from the other contestants is because she`s already a professional back up singer and she has the stage experience. If they keep it as a singing competition she should win.

She is amazing and I really hope that she wins!!! I don't think what you look like should matter. AS for her shyness I think she is very genuine and it's just part of her personality. She doesn't seejm fack to me at all.

I don't think Melinda is going to win she does sing good, but Lakisha is way better, and it's true she does look scared!!!
