If you don't believe in a curse, then it is not real. It can only have power over you if you think it does... it's like how if you get your fortune told by someone who doesn't even know what they're talking about, you run a very real risk of making that fortune come true because it's what you expect to happen.
Self-fulfilling prophecies.

you don't need someone to do that for you. those things only have power when you believe. write them off as crap and the power goes away. if you need something to help you feel protected, walk out in to a wooded area and ask for gaia (mother earth) to protect you.
take it from me, a longtime practicing pagan. spells only work from belief. and those who put negative energy out there will get it back.

You can do it. Just concentrate and put a spiritual shield around yourself. That should also get rid of it and prevent it from returning.
