1. The Philippines' strategic location makes it an ideal military base of deployment
2. The Philippines is home to 80,000,000 people that can be a source of cheap yet skilled labor.
3. The country has a considerable amount of natural resources
4. Such a war would serve as the next training ground for American troops (after Iraq, etc)
5. Besides the Philippines is one of the least defended of the nations in the area so we're an easy target....

some people think first about the negative issues that U.S. has a bad intention on using the Philippines... well, maybe others are true, though...

but i think, Philippines would be more a successful and less-poverty country if U.S. is going to take it over, or in other words, they might make it U.S.' one territory...

wouldn't you like that? our people, may gain proficiency in English, and other academics... it would be easier for some workers that would like to go the United States, where they can easily find their own jobs and send money for their families at home... and then, Philippines can assure a less-terrorist country, with the help of the Americans... then, Philippines would be known from other countries... then, it might more attract tourists, and businessmen... after that, Philippine industries, economy, and our own people can rise from poverty...

Why does this question keep on popping up?
The Philippines is an independant country ruled by Filipinos and should stay as that.
Being taken over and ruled by another country thousands of miles away will be of no benefit at all.

The US would benefit immensely:
source of cheap labour,
opens up a huge market for its goods
new resources, etc

I know this is a very sensative topic but I think it would be a good boost for very poor families who don't have anything at all.
The filipino people should make it clear that they don't want the american government to exploit their people and culture in a negative way.

The aim should be to put and end to very poor generations after another and give everyone a chance to make it.

I know that I am not a filipino so whoever is concerned about what I say, Don't take it so heavy. An opinion is only opinion. my words should not have any effect.

for the US, that would mean:
easier access for them in terms of cheap labor,
easier for them to manipulate our laws and government (we wouldn't need the puppet regimes by then)
easier for them exploit our resources, our people and everything that we have.
deosn't really make much of a difference. just try to look at what we have now, everything is controlled by the US.

There is no advantage of that for the US. The entire country would become another big giant leach sucking resources from the US like a sponge. Just like it was before we packed our s.h.i.t. and left. However, whenever bio-fuels become a bigger economic playing chip, someone will come in there to harvest coconuts for dirt cheap. Don't count on USA to play that game with PI again. Its a welfare nation.

Gives the US another base to conduct spy missions or to launch an attack.
