Divide overcrowded clusters of leaves in spring to propagate Spathiphyllum. Pull rhizomes apart gently, making sure that each piece has at least two or three leaves attached. Plant individual pieces in 3 inch (7 cm) pots containing a moistened mixture of equal parts peat moss and perlite or coarse sand, burying each piece at the same depth each rhizome was planted. Treat each plant as mature spathiphyllums. Do not fertilise the newly potted rhizome for three months.

This is no joke--in order to propagate a spathphyllium, I have heard that one needs to determine whether one currently owns a male or female of the species, and then add a plant of the opposite gender planted nearby, in order for it to propagate. Supposedly, the female (mother) plant will begin to sprout up little "babies" all around, which can then be planted on their own, after a set amount of rooting and size of plant. You could probably find the details on the internet....I know it has to have "flowered" the beautiful white blooms to become fertilized by the male plant. Hope it goes well and you soon have some young ones.
