genuine Contributor badge is given for regularity of participation to a particular volume. that is to encourage answerers to proceed to be connected to Y!A which Yahoo is doing for his or her own activity. I hate this equipment of TC Badge which differentiates between the answerers. Many reliable answerers are answering in reality troublesome questions and therefore don't have any TC Badge, yet are a lot more suitable positive of their solutions. Edit: comments on your comments: could a instructor supply a lot less marks to a magnificent pupil only because he already has the optimal marks contained in the classification ? could a cricket umpire supply a batsman out lbw hostile to a pretend attraction on condition that having scored a century, he has sufficient runs ? In math and technology type, BA is the properly desirable and least confusing answer and is common to decide. yet contained in the variety of questions you ask, BA isn't the only beloved by technique of maximum readers, yet one which satisfies the asker and asker's prerogative has were given to be respected.

From what I've been reading, I think it's because if the top answerer just says "Yes, I do" or " No, I don't" and has 4000 plus best answers means something stinks here! Yahoo had to do something

I have wondered about the orangebar beneath me, I hope it is not like a modern dunce cap. I gave up on giving helpful answers for giving silly ones , and it has been ok, perhaps it is their way of watching and easily locating the questioners of authority. Sort of like an ankle bracelet for avatars. I will watch and see what happens.
Yes of course to stir up controversy, is there anything else on their minds. :-)

To stir up more addiction. I don't think it means anything to be honest, when I look at some of the people who have it and some of the people who don't I get the impression there's something messed up in how they select it.

i think it's going to make people want to answer one category of question to get that title, and it will take away from the whole sharing experience. if i get one i get one, but i think i'll answer questions i know about than just give silly answers in one section.. i can't imagine how cocky some of these people will be.

Yes, they are master psychologists and have carefully studied how to foster tribal warfare. First you gotta split 'em into "us" and "them", eg, the "Orange Blockheads" and the "Blanksters".

So far, so good.
