our university said that riaa has tracked the IP addresses of people who have illegally downloaded music and my school is now in the process of identifing those people. i changed my ip adress, can they still catch me?

The ip address they have recorded, will be sent to your internet service provider to identify you even though you may have changed it, sorry, but your going to have to face the music on this one......

If you only downloaded a few songs from various groups, go buy the CDs that contains the songs. RIAA would be hard pressed to get any money out of someone that "owns" the songs.

If you downloaded hundreds, oh well....

your IP address is renewed each time you connect to the server. However, they can see which IP was used to download it, and track it to your location.
