There are many ways to prevent pregnancy other than condoms.
Your question at the start is phrased like you may not want any kids period. Not sure if this is the case or if you don't want kids right now.
There are birth control pills for your wife as well as a birth control patch, IUD, Nuva Ring, Depo Provera Shots, etc.
Permanent measures could be a Vasectomy for you. Or tubal ligation for her.
A doctor a can evalauate her medical history and help you decide which birthcontrol options may be best for her.

Tubal ligation, vasectomy (they can now do it without needles and cutting from what I hear), birth control pills, patches, rings etc. I would reccomend the vasectomy (I know your a guy and don't want to hear that) since it only takes a day to go in and have the surgery and your out that day, plus it is less evasive, and heals faster. Most insurances should cover it and you won't have to pay forever for monthly or quarterly birth control for your wife. The plus side is if she is unfaithful you will know since you will be shooting blanks.

If you seriously, really do not want any kids and definitely would not cope with an 'accident' one of you should get something more permanent done.
Best if the bloke gets his bits tied up. It's simple day surgery for men and it is reversable. A women getting tubes tied is a bit more complicated, more painful and takes longer in hospital.
Those implants can have other side effects as well as not being 100% reliable. A friend ended up putting on heaps of weight with one of those.

Plenty. A historectomy or visectomy might be an idea at your stage in life. If you don't want something as permanent your wife can take the pill, get depo provera shots (contraceptive given by needle once every three months) or have an implanon (contraceptive inserted under the skin in the arm. Is changed every three years).
