Usually paying attention in class helps ;D

Take notes on whatever you do, even if you can't bring yourself to pay attention. Then review your notes at home, even if it's just very quick.

Ask for help here. HELP. Ask for explanations on how to do certain problems so that you can do them too, not so you can just copy the answers onto your paper. You need to WANT to learn and actually TRY to.

When I was in high school, I took a math class my junior year and almost never opened the book. I tried to take tests just off of information from paying attention in class.
I got lousy grades that year.
My senior year, I took the class over again. This time, I actually wrote my notes in my textbook. They were going to make me pay for the book, but so what, it didn't cost all that much.
I also did all the test problems for all the chapters we were studying. Math quizzes and tests are basicly the same problems, over and over again, with different numbers. Especially in algebra and calculus. Geometry is a different story. That is a class on theory.

try taking notes in class. Listen 80%, write 20%. Also, write down different formulas, equations, or Acronyms that will help you on tests. I am in Calculus, and that's how I made it. It might help you, also you will want to study the "cheat sheet" taht you make at least twice a week, this will help you on any quizzes that may come up and other things among that.

ha ha! i'm in 8th grade too!
well, i dont study....or pay attention...but thats because i already know everything.

here's a few tips.

ever heard of kumon? its a great tutoring center.

DONT READ THE TEXTBOOK!!! take notes from class.

when reading examples or formulas, if you dont understand, just memorize it and plug in all the numbers ,try understanding it AFTER that.

it always works with me and my simultaneous equations.
