I just have to know what romance means to men and women. Do we think of it the same? Or are we women more romantic?

Romance means doing/enjoying the simple things in life with the one you love. Giving a card, letter, or flowers "just because" is a good example. Taking the time to get involved in activity, like hiking, camping, having a picnic, or a private home-cooked candle-lit dinner are all romantic because they build upon that intimate bond that a couple shares and thereby creates more meaning in their relationship. Personally, its romantic to invest myself in something new to me that means something to that one that I love.

Romance is a show of love and affection. I believe in showing it in many ways. Romance isn't just about sex, but everything else that goes with a relationship, too. Showing affection in many different ways. Romance is something so easy as opening a car door for your partner. A nice romantic dinner. Complimenting her on how she looks. A nice massage. So many different ways to be romantic. Yes, I'm a hopeless one myself.

It is hard to answer your last question, since in the most well-know story of Romance (Romeo and Juliet), the man is active and the female is passive. Has this changed so much since the days of old?

romance is soft kisses on the neck, surprising me with a hug from behind when I'm washing dishes or cooking, laughing at absolutely nothing, trips to the zoo and disneyland, midnight drives to nowhere, a box of see's butterscotch squares, gelatto ice cream, china garden, plus lots more.
