I don't know how long it is, but if you're wanting it to look thicker quickly & cheaply try leaving a little conditioner in it, hold your head upset down & blow dry it.
Of course don't do this when you're in a hurry in case it looks terrible, you'll want to have time to rinse it out.
I have extremely thick hair, like enough hair for 3 people, but I used to do this back in the "big hair" days of the 80's.

Try growing it all out, to the same length, 2-3 inches and spiking it all out.

First, grow your hair as long as your patience can last. That's all you need. Throw in some gel to reinforce that messy look.
