I can tell you from experience this is definutely possible. I am bisexual and my best friend is a lesbian. We have no sexual desire for eachother. We've been friends for many years and we think of eachother more like sisters than anything else. She is a very attractive woman but I could never go there with her.

Of course it is. It's possible for a man and a woman just to be friends, and it's possible for two gay men to be just friends. Sexual orientation doesn't always play a huge role in friendships. It just depends on the people involved.
